The club is raising money to build a new facility adjacent to the hockey pitch that would include changing rooms, and a club space that is inclusive and safe for all members – encouraging and enabling a wider range of people into the sport, and vastly improving the experience of local people and all those that visit from other clubs. Those who have visited recently will know the unfortunate poor state the current facilities are currently in.

Crowd-fundraising, through various different fundraising events, is one method of gaining the money required for the build, with grant funding, internal funds and sponsorships also providing the additional funding required.

Through direct fundraising, we’re looking to raise an initial £150,000 to help drive this project forward, and to get building.

Our Club’s Main Sponsor Vision Properties headed up by Nath and Jimmy from the Men’s 1s (https://vision-properties.co.uk/leeds/) will kindly be doubling their referral donation of £250 per completed instruction to the club between now and the end of April in support of this run. All you or any of your friends, family, colleagues or contacts need to do, is mention “Leeds Adel Hockey Club” during the initial conversation / referral. They will then increase their referral donation to the club to £500 per completed instruction when you’re selling/ renting your house (T&Cs apply).

We are lucky to have a warm and welcoming clubhouse, a modern and high-quality astro pitch, LED lighting, security fencing, and large dugouts to protect from the wind/ rain that often besets Adel during the hockey season. The final piece of the puzzle though is a set of changing rooms that will be safe, warm, inclusive, and that will continue to develop the living memorial that Adel War Memorial Association acts as.

So far, a number of fundraising initiatives have gotten us off to an amazing start; to keep up to date on the latest news and money raised, visit our GoodHub page.

Special shout outs should go to Emmie for a very impressive Sprint Triathlon at the age of 8 (raising over £800!), and our very own chair Sam Jackson for taking on and smashing the Liverpool to Leeds Canal Run over the course of 23 hours. Most of us don’t run 127 miles over a whole season of hockey games so that puts into perspective this incredible achievement and this is reflected by the over £10,000 raised to really get us started on our journey to realising these changing rooms. Thanks to both!
